The paints have been selected (Benjamin Moore Graytint for Living Room/Hallway/Entry + Silver Dollar for Bedroom + not painting nursery/second bedroom just quite yet.) As much of a cleansing leaving a new apartment and setting up a new one is, it's also time to change things up. I love to shop but I like a stealy deal even more. And what puts a finishing touch on a new home? The scent. All accoutremonts aside, I really think there's nothing like a beautifully smelling apartment. The nesting thing seems to have hit me already! My four new fragrant splurges for 2A... (4th being Sabon Aroma Reed Diffuser: Gentleman, perfect for a powder room, photo unable to upload) In other news, I'm channeling the vibes of Georgie Girl today and realizing that in less than a month, my stomach sleeping ways are going to come to an end. But...how about this for some funny improv tummy relief?? Baby M Week 15 to come later on this tonight! It's not really expanding much down there, sorry for the bump bore. Bikram abs holding it all in right now!

We're going light on Christmas presents this year in the Markle household. Lots of fun and travel had and experienced this fall and I actually love the idea of trying to get a few really great stocking stuffers :) Some ideas that everyone should love! Whiskey Stones. For the sophisticated drinker in your life. Get a set of monogrammed tasting glasses and youve got a great gift! Restoration Hardware Luxe Fur Slippers. These puppies have gained quite the female following. Grab yourself, your mom, your sister, your niece and your best friend a pair. If you got a set for all those people it would only be $70! J Crew Polka Dot PJ Pants. Perfect thickness. Super festive. $20. A DIY easy peasy project. 99cent store mug. Painted with chalkboard paint. I think this is adorable... F21 Stretch Skinny Jean. Dont get me wrong, I love my 7s and R&Rs, but for $10.50, and a decent fit with stretch, bootie flattering...it's a no brainer. And while we're at it, some denim style observations from a master: "When women wear denim, [the derriere] must look elegant. It’s the second thing every woman looks at in the mirror, but it’s the first thing she cares about. She does that half twirl, her back arched and her head craned around. If the jeans are right, the experience is transforming, like putting on a magic cloak." -Ritu Kumar, designer As this ridiciulously out of control Fall comes to a close (December equals winter in my book), this last installment of Friday Fav randoms will come to an end and it's all holiday goodness from then on. This weekend, Lee and I will get all dolled up (hey, black tie! I love black tie! RTR, I'm such a loyal customer this season) to his middle brother Andrew and his gorgeous bride to be Irina, the soon to be Mrs. Markle #4 right here in NYC ;) I give you, the final nonesensical post of my weekly favorites: Purchased wayyyy back in September at the Henri Bendal event with the new Mrs. Fletcher, I stored these travel bags away for our Barbados trip which at the time was 10 weeks away. How perfectly adorable for all your beach needs (waterproof pouching with HB stripes no less!) Um, HOW is this fro-yo place *not* in NYC? U-Swirl, discovered by me & my gorg pal Liz whilst in Arizona during a justifiable post-bikram food run, this place (dare I say)...puts Pinkberry to shame. And their salted caremel wasnt a seasonal random. And CAKEBATTER was a staple flavor. Clearly, the east coast needs to get their shiz together and get a franchise in my 4 block radius. Ready for some cheese? A total favorite of mine if I may? My husband as a wedding date. I just....* Love this man. I thought this was an appropriate guide given that as the season's change, women need to be reminded of this. (First to admit, I email two friends before ever daring to hem pants incorrectly.) Manhattanites! Support this! Starting in Summer 2012, you'll be able to use BikeShare as another transporation option for quick trips around town. You can become a member for an annual fee that will be cheaper than a one-month metro card or pay as you go with a credit card. Currently, the organization is determining where to put the bike stops, so vote away to get one near you. File under: reasons I love living in NYC. So here's the thing. I just had one exciting Friday Favorites all cued up and ready to go + some loving holiday words for the blog world as tonight = Urban Thanksgiving, the ultimate NYC holiday with friends who are like family. But then I accidentally left my blog page while editing...and lost it all. (And it's been a terriblehorriblenogoodverybadworkweek that I am ready to end.) By 7pm tonight, it will be wine and nutmeg infused everything and two 16lb straight from a New Jersey farm turkeys. And that makes me happy. Sandra wanted a Favorites post(S always gets what she wants;). My grumpiness fades as the final day of this week is about to begin. And I give you a Friday wish list--- because the holidays are almost here. Christmas is 44 days away (!!!). My husband will make fun of me if I ever wear anything faux fur, but how cute would this vest be with riding pants and boots OR over a simple black sweater dress? Very. Found by SKr at Anthro and I'm thinking it's the perfect holiday party dress. Let's wait for it to go on sale? Purchased for a wedding gift and think I would like it myself. Learn to knit = top 2012 new year's resolution. Laugh away. I know I have one gal pal already lined up to go;) Say no more. This isn't a wish, it is a necessity ;) Oh a random assortment it what you wanted?! You got it. As the sun creeps around the building outside my window, I'm happy to get this day going and anxiously awaiting a weekend of girlfriends and babies! On the agenda: tapas & wine with Linds A tonight and a full Saturday of Philadelphia phun tomorrow including but not limited to: snuggles with my new neice AND baby Leighton...and then hours and hours of catching up/venting/laughing/cheersing with my Carbs :) Gonna have some fun, show you how it's done....T.G.I.F. (how great was that fall line-up in the early 90s?) Steam Basket. Brides to be, this is a great random registry item. Makes the whole "dinner for 2" option very simple. Throw in some of TJ's butternut squash trangioli (a staple in 7B), chopped veggies in the basket and voila! Leftover apples from all that fall baking? :) Crunchies. I'm a big all day muncher (who 100% ascribes to the 5-6 small meals a day theory of eating.) Dried fruit has always been a favorite of mine but the extra added sugar started to feel like I was eating too much candy. And then along came Crunchies where the only thing taken out is the H20. No additives or preservatives put back to increase shelf life. Astronaut food! :) Kombucha. A magical old world beverage that is thought to have healing, detoxifying and energizing properties for the mind and body. It contains mutiple yeast and bacteria strands that produce a variety of acids known for cleaning one's system. (It tasted super sweet which was a surprise and the natural carbonation from the yeast added a good kick!) Essie's Chinchilly Nail Polish. My first comment is that Essie >>>>(that's 4x greater) than OPI. I think their brand team has a better eye for creating a line of polishes as a fashion integration to a wardrobe not simply a pop of color. Ah, 1st world industries. Anyways, this is my new go-to neutral for this fall that replaced Wicked (an overwhelming fall favorite of the 20something NYC gal.) Game On is the mantra for these October 2011 weekends. We're off to the South Berkshires in just a few hours for the wedding of a favorite couple....the groom I've known since childhood :) I love love and everything about being in and attending a wedding, so while always tiring to travel after a long week....I'm over the moon excited to reconnect with friends and celebrate the new Mr & Mrs in a gorgeous outdoor setting and a FARM reception. Cannot wait. With these fall activities in full swing, this week's favorites are literally an assortment of randoms that blew into my world this week. Hair + food + makeup. The Saturday's Story Standard. The Sock Bun. It is such a find by my best gal Sarah, that honestly...it is getting 2 slots on the favorites. One for her genius first glance rendition, and mine below in work mode. Click on the link to watch. This has revolutionized (dramatic, I know) my morning routine. I'm a ponytail or bun to work gal and this just....is perfection. And SKr's an adorable model for use of the SB in going out mode;) The Sock Bun. Work Mode. Dont mind the wrinkled shirt. I hate that shirt. *sigh* Chia Seeds. The new flaxseed. Bursting with omega-3s and 6s, fiber and all the B vitamins, this new wonder of the organic/natural foods world is all the rage. It's also an amazing appetite surpressent. Sprinkle on salads or yogurt or a put a tablespoon in your tea, like me! The seeds swell up like bubble tea tapioca balls and are a fun additive to your morning hot beverage (in your Steelers mug.) Benefit's They're Real Mascara. I went to work one morning last week without mascara on. When I dont have mascara on, I look like a newborn baby mole, you can barely see my eyes. Cursed (blessed?) with fair skin and short, blonde lashes, I made a beeline to Sephora and snatched this up based on the recco of the saleswoman. LONG black lashes are now mine. Organic Avenue Juices. It's no surprise I fell in love with green juices after my morning love of the power packed green monster smoothies. Having tried the BPC ones in the past, I walked to OA on Sunday post-bachelorette party weekend and really am on board with what they offer. They arent as overy sweet as BPCs and I like that they use glass bottles to be returned for a refund. Busy day! Work then it's transform-the-apartment-to-bachelorette-party-central :) 5 little internet favorites that caught my eye this week....Friday, welcome, I feel like it's been forever. Found on Georgie Girl...these Manhattan Mini Storage subway signs and billboards are some of the funniest revolving in NYC. I mean, CLEARLY Jesus was not a New Yorker. Multiple rooms and home greater than 900square feet kindof scares me/is daunting to think about. And dont even get me started about my fear of decorating an entire house. #Honesty. ...And this little old gem on Emphasis Added. I love those things too. Sent to me by my girl KCS. Spot. ON. One of the sweetest and heartwarming lines of any novel (and movie.) Aibileen Clark in "The Help." A fellow Pittsburgh native & NA grad and now Mom of two DARLING boys posted this.... and isnt it the truth? :) Friday! All my favorite sprays...for the home, the kitchen or your personal grooming routine. Molton Brown Room Spray. Don't get me wrong, candles are better. But this comes in handy when guests are about to arrive and I forgot to pick up another Clean Cotten or Sage & Citrus Yankee Candle (my favs). Moroccan Oil Luminous Hairspray. This hairspray is just fab-dabulous. Lightweight for my baby fine hair and smells like a beachy dream. Sensual Amber Body Spray. My old roomie Kate turned me onto this fragrance years ago! Sometimes, it's just easier on the wallet than a ritzy perfume. Good for post-yoga or errand running. Nothing special but fresh and a little musky. Mario Badascu Rosewater Spray. My love for MB spans far and wide and this $7 bottle of heaven makes me feel fresh and so clean. Spritz over your face mid-day to keep the "dewey" look going w your makeup or on a clean face before bed. Olive Oil Mister. So based on my quick google search, there are roughly 119calories in 1 tablespoon of olive oil, all coming from fat. But adding air and misting the oil, you not only get a better and more even application of flavor onto your veggies, flatbread, etc...you're cutting back where it is very easy to over-do. I LOVE adding dried chilis to the oil for a spicy kick! PS: It's been a wonderful week around here. Some positive work related and work-out related reinforcement from my mentors + charity shopping at Henri Bendel with Linds + catching up with Shep + wine @ Entwine with Sar & Steve...and tonight, a birthday party for my lovie EJ. My friendship love tank is fuller than full---overflowing with attentive conversations and life chats that keep me on a high for days. And on the family newsline, my brother-in-law and sister-in-law just welcomed their second daughter, Elise, into the world on Wednesday morning(!!!) Is there anything better in this world than receiving news of a baby being born? :) I think not!
MODG recommended, Mrs. M (that's me!) approved.. This is saying a lot as I have been oh so blessed with wide hips and a bootie to rival Kim K's. I don't wear jeans often, but that is going to change. And this little ditty of a wardrobe staple deserves an entire post dedicated to their perfection. Organic cotten softness x 100. Ideal color wash. These will be the jeans I'll never be able to find again in 7yrs when replacement is necessary. They feel loved and worn in just off the rack. I give you, the 7 For All Mankind Bootcut Vintage California. You're welcome.
I didnt really have the itch for new fall clothes....until Sarah Kr's recent weekly replies to a variety of my assults on her inbox begin or end with: "omg i have the shopping bug. need new everythinnnnnnng." And then I jump onboard and I'm just J. Screwed. From boots to bangles, I totally love this upcoming season's colors and trends. Except for the high waisted flare jeans. No no nooooo. But a ressurections of my '04 bootleg Rock & Republics? YES. Bold, jeweltone shift dresses and oversized cardigans....granny plaids and leopard flats? MmmHM. I'll take it. A Friday Favorites on a Tuesday....look at that. (shoot it's only Monday.) Zara Tulip Dress. $99. This totally is a dress made for me and my tiny top, larger rear physique ha. Love the color. Hate that Zara doesnt do online shopping. J Crew Leopard Flats. $125. Not over the top and furry. And the more reasonable than Tory B. Target Black Riding Boots. Just get them. The Oversized Cardigan. I am not a fan of this pattern but the fit/cut/chunkiness is so up my ally. The kind of sweater coat you wear every Sunday and cuddle on the couch or to a casual Le Pain Q dinner with friends. My eyes are out for a first grey/ivory/black/less aggressive patterned one for fall. So far, nada. Pixie Pant. I know I'm in the minority here, but I love a legging as a pant. I rarely wear it without the bootie being covered but comfort trumps style here. And these look adorable! Thanks to Meghan for this find! |
AuthorSarah: one part of a family of THREE with my husband Lee and sweet girl Morgan, simply wanting to chronicle the path I'm on and the path that will come to be.
